Railway ferry line Kerch-Poti/Batumi. On September 26, 2007 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Georgian government signed an agreement about organizing work of joint railway-ferry line Kerch-Poti/Batumi. This document reflected growing turnover of goods between GUAM countries as well as corresponding transport necessity. It’s worth emphasizing that creation of a Ferry Bridge in Kerch and subsequent exploitation of a new ferry line between Ukraine and Georgia reduces the itinerary by 550 km. It’s almost two times less than a distance between Ilichevsk and Poti and doubles ferry line capacity with the same number of fleet. New line allows transporting additionally over 500 tons of cargo.
